Period Shortened Native American Used 1842 U.S. Springfield Musket with Steel Tacked Stock

Condition: Non-working Heavy Pitting inside and out. Stock has lots of dings and bruises. Trigger Guard is Broken
.69 caliber. Barrell cut To 26". Stock is decorated with steel tacks typical of Native American use. oxidized brown metal,. Percussion lock marked in "Springfield 1944". Two-screw side plate, iron trigger guard has been bent Period Steel ramrod. Original Butt Plate. Gun cut down and decorated during the period of use to a much handier length with about 14" of barrel and stock removed, with a Brass sight added near the muzzle. Shortening trade guns to "carbine" length was quite popular with the Native Americans, making the guns easier to use on horseback or carry in dense brush. This gun shows Heavy wear with some period use and damage. A solid and honest example of a Native used and shortened trade gun.

In the Continuous U.S. and Canada, with every purchase we allow for a provisional 14 day inspection period. If for any reason you do not want to keep an item that you have purchased, simply return the item in original condition within 14 days of receipt. After inspection, you will be refunded the purchase price. Return shipping not included.
Each of our pieces is unique and carefully photographed. If we feel that the returned piece is in any way damaged, or different than the piece that we originally sent, we will return the item to you and no refund will be offered or made.
