Classic 19th-century percussion plains rifle, a heavy-barrel muzzleloader highly favored by western pioneers, hunters, and trapers. The firearm was manufactured by Slotter & Co. of Philadelphia—a company formed by former gunsmiths from the famous Henry Deringer firm—specifically for the retail market of Robert Liddle (and his later partnership, Liddle & Kaeding) based in San Francisco, California.
