Antique Fancy English Fowler Shotgun marked on barrel and lock: “S. (G?)ODDINGTON
ine English made flintlock 10 Bore Shotgun with steel mountings. Markings are " S G(?) ODDINGTON" with London Proof Marks . A very old gun dating back to the 1700's to the early 1800's. Typical of early guns. Overall length is 53" with a 37" barrel. Approximately a 10bore. Metal is mostly a silver color. There is fancy engraving on the side insert plate. The wood is Plain and in very good condition. Some shrinkage in places. This gun has aged quite gracefully. The frontlock action work well. Frizzen spring is broken. Bore has not been cleaned in decades and could use a good cleaning. The trigger guard is very long and engraved.
