Native American Mescalero Apache Mocs
Pair of Mescalero Apache Moccasins, Circa 1885
Mescalero Apache
Hide, Glass Beads
With minimal bead application, the pattern stands out better and the sense of restrain adds to their interest. The designs are simple linear paths of alternating dark blue and white beads. The beads are all sewn on with thread. One of the moccasins shows a different color of blue in the front system, that being a blue teal color. The tongue and rim are lined with the same colors of white and dark blue. The tongue flap has the added color of dirty mustard beads. The back of the moccasins have a vertical band of dark blue and dirty pink, with one red with a white heart bead. The deer hide is supple and soft. The soles are parfleche and show some wear.
10" long.
Circa: 4th qtr 19th century
